Must have accessories for your sofa!
On average you will spend 6.4 hours of your day sitting, and a majority of that is most likely going to be spent seated at your sofa. For this reason, your sofa should be your relaxation station with all your comfort needs catered for. Whether it’s a place to kick up your feet or somewhere to give your cup a coaster, there’s a massive variety of items to adorn your new lounge suite with.
Coffee and Lamp Tables!
If you haven’t already, a good coffee table is a necessity for not only a sofa, but for any lounge! Whether it’s hosting mugs, TV remotes or a selection of easy reading, a good coffee table should perfectly compliment, not just the living room, but the sofa adorning it.
As such, when choosing a coffee table to match your lounge suite, all parts of its design and features should pair with your chosen sofa like the cheese and wine it’ll have placed on top. As such, we’ve already written a blog article on how to choose the perfect coffee table, so check that out for more info!
If your sofa is in a bit of a squeeze without room to add a coffee table but you’re still looking for a place to down your beverage, a lamp table could be what you’re looking for!
Essentially a bedside cabinet but for the living room, lamp tables are compactly designed to fit beside a sofa to house your sofa sine qua nons. Ranging from four legs and a surface to any variety of shelves and drawers, a good lamp table is also great for hosting those awkward to place items too, like smart speakers and Wi-Fi routers.
If your sofa is in a place however where you aren’t able to place down a piece of furniture, then more modular options do exist! These sofa tables easily drape over the end of your armrest and provide a solid surface to place down your drink and snacks without leaving a mark on your sofas fabric, or worse, falling off and staining either the carpet or couch!
A Cozy Blanket and Pillows
We’ve all been there, you’re watching your comfort show on Netflix and that warm autumn sun hits the couch just right as your eyelids begin to weigh down like sandbags, what could make this better? A nice blanket of course!
Obviously we’re not going to go through all the different types of blankets you can purchase, however, we will discuss the different ways you can store and present them in a way that keeps them easily reachable while still your living room looking tidy.
If you just need a singular blanket, then by getting a blanket that matches the style of your sofa and having it draped over the back can not only add a bit of flair to your lounge suite, but also be an inexpensive way to protect your sofa.
However, if you need to store a large amount of blankets and maybe some additional items, then a good blanket box could be the storage solution you’re looking for. The added benefit of a blanket box too is it’s another surface you can use for any variety of reasons, from an impromptu coffee table to a last minute seat.
In a similar vein, having some good pillows on your sofa can not only make or break those afternoon naps, but having some easily moveable padding can easily turn any part of your living room into a last minute seat for those really unexpected guests.
An Ottoman To Kick Your Feet Up On!
In the same vein as the blanket box, if you’re looking for a stylish storage solution for your living room and a way to kick up your feet on your sofa, then a nice ottoman could the move for you!
Obviously if your sofa already has a recliner function, then an ottoman doesn’t make sense. But especially if you’re got an armchair in the prime space of the lounge, then even an ottoman that’s purely padding can be an easy way to add some extra comfort to your lounge suite.
And again, a good ottoman in itself can act as an impromptu seat or table given the situation. Just ensure the material on top is easily cleanable, especially for those with grubby feet, and the ottoman is an excellent addition for any lounge suite!
A Living Room Lamp To Set The Mood!
There’s nothing worse than kicking your feet up on the couch, ready to read that new novel you borrowed from the library; that despite being the comfiest spot on the couch, realizing the lighting is terrible!
Thus a good living room lamp can really do a lot to change the function and vibe of the living room, and in turn your sofa. Whether its the middle step lighting between the main room light and lights off for movie night, or just a reading lamp for those lazy sunday lulls, a living room lamp can make all the difference.
Whether it’s a standing lamp with a variety of light sources, or just a standard lamp sitting on the previously mentioned lamp table, adding a secondary light source can really help in transforming your living room with a simple push of a button.
A Fabric Protector and Cleaner To Save Your Sanity!
This might be stretching the term sofa accessories, but having some way to protect and preserve your sofa from any spills and messes is essential when owning any type of lounge suite.
If you have a leather lounge suite, then a basic spray cleaner and maybe a vacuum for more crumbly situations is pretty much all you need. However, for fabric lounge suites then having something ready to tackle those more complicated messes can save a lot of hair pulling in the future!
If you’ve just bought a sofa, either brand new or second hand, we’d recommend investing in some scotchgard. This helps add a hydrophobic layer to the fabric, helping slow how quickly it absorbs any spilled liquid, removing a lot of panic in those initial moments to get a cloth to soak up the offending area.
However, if you are a bit late and accidentally have a glass of red wine make its mark on your sofa, then a basic stain removing vacuum can be your saviour! What used to be a big large machine you’d have to rent out can now be affordably bought in a size compact enough to fit in any cupboard.
This combination of cleaner and protector should have you covered against the majority of messes your sofa should face in its lifetime. However, we’d still recommend erring on the side of caution with when it comes to those particularly stainy beverages, this combo can do a lot but it can’t do everything!
Conclusion
By now you should have you sofa fully decked out to have your creature comforts covered. Whether it’s a place to put your cup and phone or a place to kick up your feet, now all you need to do is max out and relax as all your sofa needs are met.

What Accesories should I Purchase To Make My Sofa Look More Attractive?
If you’re looking to make a statement in your living room with your sofa, we’d definitely recommend investing in some cushions and a throw blanket to help freshen up the look of your sofa.
Not only can these add some flair and contrast to the often drab look sofas normally have, but as previously mentioned, the can provide a functional use for when you need that added comfort.
In saying this however, if you’re planning on using the sofa in any capacity, don’t feel defeated when you go into the room to see the throw bunched up and cushions strewn across the floor. This just means your sofa is being used and loved for its intended purpose, and not sat in a vacuum chamber as a pristine figure of a “model home.”
